Edward J. Hill's practice emphasizes workers' compensation law and labor and employment law, including wage claims. Ed is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the Federal Bar for the District of Oregon.
Ed received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University and his law degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. At Northwestern, Ed received an American Bar Association Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources law. In the years between undergraduate and legal studies, Ed worked first as a journalist in Asia and later as a high school Teacher in New York City. Ed has been a member of the Seafarer's International Union and the United Federation of Teachers.
Ed has helped develop and implement litigation and legislation strategies to improve the rights and benefits of injured workers in Oregon. In 2000, Ed wrote a chapter for the Continuing Legal Education treatise on workers' compensation published by the Oregon State Bar. In 2002, he wrote a chapter for the Continuing Legal Education handbook on private sector labor and employment law published by the Oregon State Bar.
From 1997 to 2004, Ed erved as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Better People, a non-profit organization that provides job counseling, job placement and job retention services to ex-criminal offender. Ed was a co-founder of Better People with current Oregon Legislative District 43 Representative Chip Shields. Ed is a supporter and/or member of KBOO radio, KMHD radio, Oregon Public Broadcasting, the Disjecta gallery and performance space, Write Around Portland, and Burnside Outreach.
